The Ministry of Public Education released a guide for parents to protect the privacy, reputation and safety of their children. In this document, the SEP recommends that parents 'limit' or cancel access to social networks for basic education students.
This guide was prepared by specialists who participated in the “Online Safety” program, created by the administration of the president of the United States, Barack Obama, within the Subcommittee on Education.
The Facebook Guide alerts parents about crimes committed on said social network such as harassment, cyberbullying; In addition, this publication seeks to avoid children's inattention to their school activities and even prevent suicide in adolescents.
The document suggests monitoring children's activities and proposes that parents carry out exercises in search engines on the information that exists online about their children. It also recommends that children have privacy locks on their Facebook profile so that they can protect themselves, among others, “from potential contact with adults” on this social network.
If you are a parent, it is recommended that you read this guide. What do you think of this SEP initiative?
