A reliable email campaign begins before the message enters the design tool. Use this checklist to align permission, content, delivery and measurement.
Before creating the email
- Define the audience, objective and desired action.
- Confirm that recipients agreed to receive this type of communication.
- Choose a relevant segment and suppress ineligible contacts.
Before sending
- Write an honest subject and useful preview text.
- Check hierarchy, mobile layout, alternative text and keyboard-accessible links.
- Verify sender identity, physical address and unsubscribe controls.
- Test links, personalization, tracking and rendering in representative clients.
- Confirm SPF, DKIM and DMARC configuration.
After sending
- Monitor delivery, complaints and unusual errors.
- Evaluate clicks, conversions and business outcomes in context.
- Document what the campaign taught the team.
A checklist cannot make an irrelevant message useful, but it can prevent avoidable execution and compliance failures.
